Prices trending down are a sight for sore eyes. If you’ve been waiting for a buying opportunity, there isn’t a better one than now.

With the release of 30th Celebration, it looks like people are willing to sell what they have for a discount. Given the generous hit rates, and general availability of product, 30th Celebration is shaping up to be one of the most popular sets of all time.

But with that upswing momentum that 30th Celebration is carrying comes a downswing in the market as sellers are marking down while buyers are patiently waiting for new bottoms to be set. And this isn’t just limited to Mega Evolution era sets and cards. All charts and images you’re about to see are courtesy of Collectrics!

Three different era sets, all seeing the same trend downward. The biggest surprise to me is the overall softening on 151, given the shear popularity of the set and the emphasis on the original 151 Pokemon. But 30th Celebrations gives us some classic artwork of the original 151 in gold bordering, some new artworks of all-time favorite Pokemon, with every pack containing one of the 30 reverse holographic Pikachu cards.

The top chase cards of the aforementioned sets tell the story more clearly.

Interestingly enough, raw prices are trending downward for our Charizard ex and Mega Dragonite ex chases, but the raw price on the Gengar VMAX has held pretty steady. It’s the PSA 10 prices that are seeing a dip across the board. And unless you’re completing a master set binder, PSA 10s are a better way to spend your money anyways for buying your desired chase cards, so this is definitely a sign…
